What's on the dinner ideas wheel
The wheel comes loaded with 12 meals that cover a solid range of weeknight and weekend cooking: comfort food like Meatloaf and Shepherd's Pie, lighter options like Salmon and Grilled Fish, quick weeknight picks like Stir Fry and Tacos, and crowd-pleasers like Homemade Pizza and Lasagna. There's also a Vegetarian Curry for meat-free nights. Each entry gets an equal slice by default, so every meal has an equal shot every time you spin.
Customising the wheel for your household
The 12 defaults are a starting point. If your family won't touch Meatloaf, hit the X next to it and it's gone. If you want to add a house favourite that isn't there — say, Fried Rice or Chilli Con Carne — type it into the entry field and press Enter. You can also paste a full list at once using the bulk import text area, which is handy if you're rotating a longer meal plan.
If a certain meal should come up more often — maybe everyone loves Tacos — raise its weight using the numeric input on that entry row. A higher weight gives it a proportionally larger slice and a proportionally better chance of winning. You can also hide an entry temporarily with the eye toggle rather than deleting it, which is useful if you're out of a key ingredient but want to keep the meal in the list for next week.
For households with very different tastes, the wheel generator lets you build an entirely custom wheel from scratch rather than editing this one.
Using the wheel to settle family disagreements
The wheel works well as a tiebreaker. If two people each want something different, add just those two meals, spin, and the result is final — no negotiating. Because the outcome is random and visible to everyone watching, it's harder to argue with than a unilateral decision. The winner dialog shows the result clearly, and you can share it directly to WhatsApp or copy it to clipboard if you want to send it to someone who wasn't in the room.
The Remove Winner toggle is worth knowing about here: turn it on and each winning meal is removed from the pool after the spin. Useful if you're planning a week of dinners in one session — spin seven times and you'll get seven different meals with no repeats.
Spin history during your session
Every result is logged in the spin history section beneath the wheel for the current session. If you spin several times to plan ahead — or just want to remember what you landed on — the list is right there in reverse order. It clears when you leave the page. If you use other wheels on the site, winners from all of them show up in the header history dropdown as well.
