Accessibility statement

What works today, what we're still improving, and how to tell us when something doesn't work for you.

Last updated · July 2026

Spin The Wheel is committed to making the wheel and the pages around it usable by as many people as possible. Our target is conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. This is a live target — some pages meet it fully, some are being brought in line, and we’d rather be honest about that than overclaim.

What works today

  • Keyboard navigation. The wheel, controls, and navigation can be reached and operated using Tab, Shift + Tab, Enter, and Space. There is a visible focus indicator on interactive elements.
  • Screen-reader friendly winner announcement. When a spin completes, the winning entry is announced through a live region so assistive technology reads it out.
  • Text alternatives. Meaningful icons have aria-label or accompanying text. Decorative visuals are hidden from assistive tech.
  • Semantic structure. Landmarks (header, main, nav, footer), heading hierarchy, and lists are used so a screen reader can skim the page.
  • Colour contrast. Default text and controls are designed to meet AA contrast ratios against both light and dark themes.
  • Reduced-motion respect. Non-essential animations, including the spin, honour the prefers-reduced-motion setting where feasible.
  • Responsive text sizing. Layout works with browser zoom up to 200% without loss of content.

Known gaps

Areas we know still need work. If any of these blocks you, tell us — priority follows demand.

  • Some visual palettes chosen for entertainment wheels may not hit AA contrast for smaller text on the segment labels. The default palette does; user-picked ones might not.
  • The wheel’s spin animation has an audible tick. There is a mute control, but we’d like a more prominent one.
  • A handful of older blog posts have not yet been re-run through the heading-structure audit.

Assistive technology we test with

Ongoing checks are done against the current stable release of:

  • VoiceOver on macOS and iOS.
  • NVDA on Windows.
  • Keyboard-only navigation in Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.

Report an issue

If something on the site is inaccessible to you, please email accessibility@spinthewheel.biz. Please include:

  • The URL of the page.
  • Your browser, operating system, and any assistive technology in use.
  • A short description of what didn’t work.

We aim to respond within two business days. Where a fix is quick, we ship it in the next release; where it involves a rework, we’ll tell you the plan and give a rough timeline.

Alternatives

If you cannot use the wheel with your setup and need a specific pick made for a personal or classroom use case, email hello@spinthewheel.biz with the list of entries. We can run a spin for you and send back the result.

Formal standards & scope
