Cookie policy

A short, honest inventory of the cookies and browser storage we use.

Last updated · July 2026

This page explains what cookies and equivalent browser storage Spin The Wheel uses, why, and how to control them. Read it alongside our privacy policy.

1. What a cookie is

A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. The browser sends it back to the same site on later visits so it can remember you across page loads. Some cookies are essential to how a site works; others are used for analytics or advertising. We use only essential and non-personalised functional cookies.

2. Cookies and storage we use

Firebase Authentication (only if you sign in)

When you sign in, Firebase Authentication sets short-lived tokens in browser storage so you stay logged in across tabs and page loads. These are strictly necessary for the login flow and expire on sign-out.

Theme preference

The site remembers whether you chose light or dark mode via localStorage. It’s a single key, entirely on your device, and never sent to a server.

Global spin history

The header History dropdown shows the last few winners across every wheel you’ve used on the site. That list is stored in your browser via localStorage under a single key. It is never transmitted to us. You can clear it any time from the dropdown.

Session cookies from Google Cloud / Firebase Hosting

Our hosting provider may set short-lived session cookies for basic security and load balancing (e.g. affinity to a particular server). No personal profile is built from these.

3. What we do not use

  • Third-party advertising trackers.
  • Cross-site profiling cookies.
  • Any cookie that persists your wheel entries, palette, or spin history to a server.

4. Managing cookies and storage

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so will sign you out and reset the theme and history preferences above. The core wheel tool still works with cookies disabled.

5. Changes

If we start using new categories of cookies (for example, analytics that record individual sessions) we’ll update this page and, if required by law in your region, show a consent banner before the new cookies fire.
