The one-line version
Spin The Wheel is a browser-based random-picker toolkit. Add a list, spin, get a fair pick — for names, food, giveaways, classroom questions, party games, whichever list has you stuck. No signup, no download, nothing stored on our servers.
How it started
A teacher friend needed a fair way to pick students that didn’t involve names-in-a-hat or the accidental favouritism that comes with eye contact. A weekend project turned into a lot of weekends, and now the site hosts a growing library of wheels for the ordinary decisions that don’t need to feel bigger than they are.
What actually happens when you spin
You add entries, we render them on a spinning wheel, and when you hit Spin a fair random draw picks a slice. Entries with the same weight get an equal chance every time. If you raise the weight on an entry above one, it wins proportionally more often — a deliberate control you can toggle in the editor.
Everything runs in your browser. No spins are logged to a server. Your entry list is a session — refresh the page and it resets. There’s more detail on this in How randomness works.
Three promises
- Free forever. Core wheels stay free. No paywalled spins, no per-day cap, no ads that block the spin button.
- Fair by design. Every spin uses the browser’s fair random source. Same weight, same odds. Nothing weighted in our favour.
- Your entries stay in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server. Close the tab and the list is gone from our side — because it never left yours.
What’s on the roadmap
Saved wheels tied to an account, per-wheel weighting UI improvements, shareable-URL wheel configurations, and a growing set of category hubs beyond the batch-one flagships. When these ship, the copy on the homepage will describe them accurately, not before.
