How to use the Wheel of Names

  1. 1

Customise the Wheel of Names entries to match your needs β€” click any slice to rename it, drag to reorder, or use the bulk import dialog to paste a list.

  2. 2

Tune each entry's weight with the Β± stepper. Heavier slices win more often. The live % chip shows each entry's true win chance.

  3. 3

Hit the SPIN The Wheel button β€” or just press Space β€” and watch the wheel pick a winner. Switch sound effects in the customisation panel.

  4. 4

Share the result with the X, WhatsApp, Facebook, or copy buttons in the winner card. Toggle "Remove Winner" if you want each spin to remove the pick automatically.

Why use a random name picker?

Picking a name out of a hat works, but it's slow, easily rigged, and you need a hat. The Wheel of Names does the same thing in three seconds, in full view of everyone, with no chance of sleight of hand. That's why it has become the default tool for classroom picks, raffle draws, secret-santa assignments, and "who goes first" moments at every kind of meeting.

Customise the wheel for your group

The default ten names are just a starting point. Click any entry to rename it, drag entries to reorder them, or paste your full class roster into the Import dialog to load a hundred names at once. If you want one person to come up more often β€” a birthday spotlight, say β€” bump that entry's weight in the Β± stepper.

One name at a time

Toggle Remove Winner below the wheel and each picked name is auto-removed for the next spin, so nobody gets called on twice. Pair it with the spin-history below to keep a record of who has gone.

Frequently asked

Q.01

Is the wheel of names actually fair?

Yes β€” each name has an equal mathematical chance of winning, computed using the browser's cryptographically strong random number generator. The only way to make a name more or less likely is to change its weight in the entry stepper.

Q.02

Can I add more than 10 names?

Up to 100 names per wheel. Use the Bulk Import dialog to paste a list from a spreadsheet or text file β€” one name per line.

Q.03

Can I prevent the same name from being picked twice?

Yes β€” toggle "Remove Winner" below the wheel. Each pick is removed from the wheel automatically so subsequent spins choose from the remaining names.

Q.04

Does it work offline?

The page needs JavaScript and a one-time download, but after that the wheel runs entirely in your browser β€” no internet connection required.
