How to use the Movie Picker

  1. 1

Customise the Movie Picker entries to match your needs — click any slice to rename it, drag to reorder, or use the bulk import dialog to paste a list.

  2. 2

Tune each entry's weight with the ± stepper. Heavier slices win more often. The live % chip shows each entry's true win chance.

  3. 3

Hit the SPIN The Wheel button — or just press Space — and watch the wheel pick a winner. Switch sound effects in the customisation panel.

  4. 4

Share the result with the X, WhatsApp, Facebook, or copy buttons in the winner card. Toggle "Remove Winner" if you want each spin to remove the pick automatically.

Genre roulette ends the scroll

You've been scrolling Netflix for forty minutes and still haven't pressed play. The Movie Picker collapses the choice space into a single random genre, then you can dive into the streaming service with a target in mind instead of an infinite buffet. Great for movie nights where two or three people each have veto power but no clear preference.

Use it for a film-club challenge

Replace the default genres with specific decades (60s, 70s, 80s…), countries (French, Japanese, Korean…), or directors (Kubrick, Bong Joon-ho, Coppola…). Spin once a week to set the next watch-along challenge. The wheel makes a fair pick nobody can argue with.

Pair with a streaming service

Add slices named after the services you have ("Netflix", "Max", "Disney+", "Prime") and let the wheel pick which one to open. Pair that with the genre wheel and you've got a complete movie-night algorithm in two spins.

Frequently asked

Q.01

Can I add specific movies instead of genres?

Yes. Wipe the defaults, paste in a list of “movies to watch eventually”, and spin to pick tonight's. The Bulk Import dialog accepts up to 100 titles at once.

Q.02

Does the wheel recommend movies?

No — it just picks a random slice from whatever you give it. For actual recommendations, ask a streaming service. We are a randomiser, not a curator.

Q.03

Can I save my list of movies?

Your edits live in the current browser session. Bookmark the page, and the next visit reloads the defaults. Optional account-based saving is on the roadmap.

Q.04

How do I avoid repeats?

Combine the Movie Picker with a “must watch” list — paste the titles in, turn on “Remove Winner”, and each spin both picks tonight's film and removes it from the list so you don't repeat.
